01 / THE VEHICLE

A legend, with room to breathe.

Our 1992 Toyota Land Cruiser HDJ80 has a 4.2L turbo-diesel engine and an expedition roof rack with a clamped Terrafirma weather-sealed equipment box.

We fold away the third row and cap groups at four. Every route is subject to registered seating, suitable child restraints, payload and luggage capacity. Children’s ages and luggage are confirmed before booking.

02 / THE SHELTER

Compact. Warm. Honestly sized.

The Väinö Bunker Extreme XL is a 3-layer insulated pop-up shelter, measuring 239 × 251 cm, with insulated floor mats and an aluminium dining table.

For evenings: one aluminium cot sofa seats two, plus two padded camp chairs, all draped in reindeer hides. A portable wood stove stands on a fireproof base mat, with dual digital CO monitors.

Overnight configuration: strictly two off-ground cots. A host is on call five minutes away, with a warm indoor fallback shelter.

GOOD TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Wild place.
Clear expectations.

Honest answers, warm welcomes.
We plan every outing personally.

How do the Aurora & Weather Policies work?+

We select the best local basecamp site before pickup. Comfort, wood-stove warmth and campfire dining are the core product. Outings go ahead on safe cloudy or snowy nights, with the absence of aurora explained upfront. This is a local wilderness dinner, with limited route flexibility, rather than an unlimited-distance road chase.

Aurora sightings are never guaranteed. If extreme weather or safety limits prevent us from operating, we reschedule or refund.

What clothing and gear is included?+

Please wear your own warm winter base layers, winter outerwear, insulated winter boots, hat and gloves. We provide the heated tent, reindeer hides, snowshoes for snowshoe outings, and camp dining gear. Overnight guests also receive the stated Arctic sleeping equipment. Tell us about any mobility or equipment questions before booking.

How do deposits, payments and cancellations work?+

Every inquiry is reviewed personally to confirm route, child seats and availability. Once confirmed, a 25% deposit secures your private date; the 75% balance is due 7 days before departure. Bookings made within 7 days require full payment.

Deposits are held safely for refunds if we cannot deliver a confirmed outing. Your written confirmation will include the guest cancellation terms for review before payment. Sending an inquiry does not reserve a date or charge you.

We’re staying in one of your cabins — how do we book?+

Select “Own Cabin Guest” in the inquiry form for priority scheduling and access to the €380 Cabin Guest Fireside & Hot-Tent Evening. This experience is also available for local Orajärvi departures on scheduled dates.

Can we bring children or book an overnight for four?+

Evening and day outings are private for 1–4 guests, subject to registered vehicle seating, suitable child restraints, payload and luggage. Include all children’s ages in your inquiry. The overnight is strictly limited to two guests maximum for tent space and Arctic sleep safety.
